Takeru Sato, Emi Takei

Rouruoni Kenshin anime series has been a great hit in the Philippines, so when a live action movie was announced, I think most fans were nervous very nervous. We’ve seen a lot of “FAILED” attempts to bring anime to live action (e.g Dragon ball, street fighter etc.). Yesterday I was able to watch the movie, and I think it was great, yes there are minor changes but it really didn’t matter.  The actors really did well in portraying our favorite characters, the production value was stunning the details and realism is top-notch. What surprised me the most was how good the musical score; maybe I just didn’t expect good music for an action flick. The best part of the film are the fight scenes, they were beautifully choreographed and makes you believe that the moves can be done a human being.

If you’re a fan of the anime/manga I think you’ll still like the film, and a reminder a movie is only 2 hrs. so it can’t squeeze in all the details from the original work. If you’re new to Samuari X you’ll still appreciate and maybe get you to watch the anime and read the manga. All in all it was a good adaptation and a good samurai movie.

Today is the last day of showing in Manila so better go to cinemas now. (SM Cinema)
